There are a lot of Google fans out there, and billions of people who likely have used Google around the world. The internet giant, which is only 10 years old, continues to innovate, grow, and become a bigger part of our everyday internet life. Whether this is a good or bad thing has yet to be seen, but I do believe that the trend will continue for quite some time. In fact I believe that Google's growth, and influence on the net will grow at an almost exponential rate over the next few years. Here are 3 reasons why:
#1 The bigger Google gets, the more information they obtain
This information makes their search algorithms that much better then the nearest competition. Unless someone can leapfrog their success in a very short amount of time, their competition will remain relatively weak. By pulling information from millions of users activities via Chrome, Search, and Gmail, a cycle is created which grows in their favor at every pass.
#2 The Google Fan Club
It seems that as soon as Google makes a move, the whole internet is buzzing about it. For this reason, they don't need to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on advertising, like Microsoft is doing with Bing. All they have to do is innovate, and release products. The blog community, and social sites out there will spread the word ten times as fast as any advertising campaign can.
#3 Hoards of Cash for Acquisitions
Google currently has close to $15 billion in cash. This means that even if a small start up came along that had technology that Google may be envious of, they can likely just throw a few hundred million bucks out there and acquire them.
Google's reach is enveloping the entire internet and every aspect of it. Like it or not, they will continue to grow, and have more influence than any other company on the planet in our daily lives.
